Most Kenyans across the country, particularly in Nyanza, Nairobi and Central regions took part in anti-finance bill protests.
A recent survey conducted by Infotrak reveals that approximately 41 per cent of Kenyans were from Nyanza, 32 per cent from Nairobi and 30 per cent from Central.
"About one in every four interviewed Gen Zs (27 per cent) affirmed to have personally participated in the protests in one way or another," Infotrak said.
"Participation is highest in Nyanza, Nairobi, and Central regions."
The survey was conducted on July 14 and 15, 2024 with a sample size of 1,000 respondents to represent Gen Zs aged 18-27 years at the time of the survey.
There was a margin error of ±3.099 per cent at a 95 per cent degree of confidence.
The interviews were conducted through computer-assisted telephone interviews.
The young generation popularly known as the Gen Zs has been leading the nationwide protests.
The protests have been triggered by the withdrawn Finance Bill, which has sparked widespread controversy and opposition.
The bill was criticised for its potential economic impact forcing President Ruto to withdraw it after a wave of protests.
But even so, the youths have sustained protests demanding that President Ruto initiate more reforms in his administration.
