President William Ruto has named his new Cabinet members nominees a week after announcing the dismissal of the entire cabinet save for Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.

The President named the new CSs during the State of the  Nation address at State House, Nairobi, on Friday.

This comes after pressure mounted on the President to pick competent people who will help him deliver on his agenda.

While naming the cabinet, Ruto was flanked by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.

"We are enhancing, broadening and deepening the national economic turnaround Plan set out in the bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda to incorporate a wider range of ideas, programmes and interventions that will facilitate job creation, robust debt management, enhanced transparency and accountability in the use of public resources and enhanced domestic resource mobilisation, and optimise public expenditure," President Ruto said.

Cabinet Secretaries nominees and AG candidate named by Ruto are:

  • Kithure Kindiki -Ministry of Interior
  • Dr Debra Mulongo Barasa - Health
  • Alice Wahome - Lands
  • Aden Duale - Defence
  • Davis Chirchir - Transport
  • Rebecca Miano - Attorney General
  • Environment - Soipan Tuya
  • Education -  Julius Migosi 
  • Eric Muriithi - Water
  •  Dr Margaret Ndungu- ICT
  • Andrew Karanja - Agriculture

The New nominees will have to undergo vetting before consideration for appointment as CSs.

Duale, Alice Wahome and Kindiki have retained their initial portfolios.

Defence CS nominee Aden Duale 

Nominated defence CS Aden Duale has thanked Ruto for the nomination saying he is ready to be vetted by the National Assembly.

"I extend my deepest gratitude to H.E President William Ruto for nominating me as Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Defence. This nomination reflects the President's and the Kenyan people's profound trust and confidence in my ability to advance our nation's agenda and more particularly the national security of our nation hence contribute to its greatness," he said on X.

"Am ready and willing to present myself to the National Assembly relevant committee for vetting and public scrutiny. Quran (2:152): "So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me." Thank you very much! Ahsante sana!"
