Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has condemned some political leaders who he claims are trying to revive tribal narratives of the old political order characterized by tribalism.

In a statement on X, the senator stated that the country must never go back to the days when political groups mobilized along ethnic lines.

Omtatah said all Kenyans should protect the new tribeless society anchored in the 2010 constitution by creating a country where one’s ethnic background is not a do-or-die affair.

“Going forward, all Kenyans of all generations and walks of life must arise, boldly stand up and make the conscious decision to protect the new tribeless society anchored in the constitution by working to create a country where one’s ethnic background is not a do or die affair,”  Omtatah said.

"I take this opportunity to congratulate yet again the tribeless Gen-z revolutionaries who, in their courage, determination, and clarity of mind, driven by the Constitution, have slayed the monster of impunity, tribalism, regionalism, mediocrity, corruption, wastefulness, and general political decay that have to date not only defined us but also denied us the real promise of this great nation."

Additionally, the senator stated that the demands by Gen Z show that they need fair inclusion in the government and accountability.

He further said that Gen Z speaking against a bad leader should not be viewed as fighting against a community.

“Kenya’s tribeless youth movement’s promise of a great nation must not be lost,” he added

"Those in authority must be held accountable for lives lost during recent protests, abductions and countless injuries some protesters have been left nursing."
