Several people were injured on Tuesday morning after police used tear gas to disperse anti-government protestors along Moi Avenue in Mombasa.

The protestors had gathered at the Mapembeni area, along Moi Avenue.

Police officers were forced to lob teargas after their attempt to stop the protest failed.

One of the injured was a deaf person selling sweets and small items on Moi Avenue, Mombasa.

He was hit on the forehead by a tear gas canister.

Dozens of police officers have been deployed along all major streets of Mombasa to stop the demonstrations.

Currently, the officers are engaging the protestors in a cat-and-mouse game.
