Weatherman warns of low night-time temperatures this week

The temperatures may drop to less than 10 degrees Celsius in some areas.

The weatherman has warned of low night-time temperatures especially in the Central Highlands, Rift Valley and South-eastern lowlands.

Kenya Meteorological Department on Tuesday said the temperatures may drop to less than 10 degrees Celsius at night.

The daytime temperatures will be more than 30 degrees Celsius in Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

In the weather forecast covering July 23 and July 29, the weatherman added that there will be intermittent cold and cloudy conditions over Central Highlands, Western Kenya, South-eastern lowlands and Rift Valley.

Met said there is a probability of rainfall in Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Central Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and North-western Kenya.

The Department added that in parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley will have morning rains over a few places with afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms.

The areas also include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia and Migori Counties.

In the North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties), there will be morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected over few places.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County) (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties) will have intermittent cloudiness, with light rains over few places.

The mornings will have sunny intervals with afternoon and night showers expected over few (mostly high ground) areas.

Additionally, Met stated that the North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will have sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

"However, morning rains may occur over some parts of Marsabit County," Met added

In the South- Eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties) there will be occasional cloudiness in the morning giving way to sunny intervals.

Nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

In the Coast area (Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties) sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

"However, there is a possibility of light morning and afternoon showers occurring over few places during the first half of the forecast period," Met said.
