The National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments on Thursday held a meeting in preparation for the forthcoming vetting of Cabinet Secretary nominees.

The committee chairperson who is also the NA Speaker Moses Wetang'ula said the vetting will commence on August 1.

The vetting process will assess the nominees' qualifications, experience, and suitability for the respective ministerial positions.

The aim of the meeting was to ensure readiness and a smooth vetting process.

The committee is tasked with vetting nominees to the Cabinet.

The Committee on Appointments is deputised by the Deputy Speaker, Gladys Boss.

The names have since been submitted for vetting and approval by President William Ruto.

"I have urged the committee members to prepare for extensive and meticulous scrutiny of the candidates, emphasising strict adherence to legal frameworks, particularly Chapter 6 of the Constitution concerning leadership and integrity, to ensure the selection of the most qualified candidates for the positions," Wetang'ula said.

Some of the members of the committee include Kimani Ichung'wah, Anthony Kimani, Owen Baya Yaa, Robert Mbui, Junet Mohammed, Caleb Amisi, Naisula Lesuuda and Naisula Lesuuda.

Others are Rahab Mukami, Dido Ali Raso, Gitonga Murugara, David Gikaria, Ferdinand Wanyonyi, Mary Emaase, Rahim Dawood, Stephen Mule, Nelson Koech, Abdi Shurie and David Pkosing.

"Opiyo Wandayi, who was previously a member of the committee, will not participate in the vetting process but will instead appear before the Committee for his vetting," Wetang'ula said.
