Ruto nominates Dorcas Oduor as Attorney General

Oduor is currently the deputy Director of Public Prosecutions.

President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Odour for the position of Attorney General.

Oduor is currently the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions.

The nomination comes a few days after he reassigned Rebecca Miano to the Tourism ministry.

Miano had been picked to be Attorney General after Ruto dissolved his entire Cabinet.

If successful in the vetting exercise, she will take over from Justin Muturi who has been nominated to serve as Public Service Cabinet Secretary nominee.

Oduor is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management (UoN), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (UoN) and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.

Once confirmed by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, and appointed by the President, Oduor will become the principal legal adviser to the Government.

She will also represent the national government in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the national government is a party, other than criminal proceedings.

She will perform any other functions conferred on the office by an Act of Parliament or by the President.

She will form part of President Ruto's newly reconstituted Cabinet which includes at least four members from the Opposition party, ODM.

Oduor will also be a member of the influential National Security Council.
