A post doing rounds on social media of the purported appointment to ambassadorial assignments of three former CSs is fake.
The post circulating on X and TikTok falsely claims that former Public Service CS Moses Kuria and his Sports and Gender counterparts Ababu Namwamba and Aisha Jumwa, respectively, have been handed envoy roles.
It claimed Jumwa has been appointed ambassador to Switzerland, Namwamba to Chad and Kuria to Ukraine.
In a statement on X, Kuria rubbished the claims.
“I would like to clarify and assure everyone that the credible and accurate details about any new appointment will only be shared through my official Facebook page Hon CS Moses Kuria and my verified X account,” he said.
Namwamba also dismissed the claims in a short statement saying “upuuus reloaded” [nonsense reloaded].
Traditionally, any ambassadorial appointments are made by the President and communicated through a gazette notice, the official government publication.
Gazette notices contain notices of new legislation, notices required to be published by law or policy as well as other announcements that are published for general public information.
It is published every week, usually on Friday, with occasional releases of special or supplementary editions within the week.
