A standoff has been witnessed at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Headquarters after supporters of Secretary-General Cleophas Malala stormed the offices.

There was a heavy presence at the Headquarters on Wednesday as the crowd stormed the area.

The group chanted pro-Malala slogans even as they insisted that the SG was still a part of the UDA leadership.

Police were on guard to ensure that the supporters did not access the premises.

The standoff comes after Joe Khalende declared himself the SG, claiming that he had ousted Malala.

He claimed that Malala was going against the Party's objectives including being against the broad-based government formed by President William Ruto

Khalende also claimed that Malala has not been taking his duties as the SG seriously, therefore the need to replace him.
