Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula has stated that former Attorney General Justin Muturi was his roommate at the University of Nairobi.

Muturi was nominated to the Public Service and Human Capital Development docket.

"Before we do anything, I will declare my interest. The nominee (Justin Muturi) was my classmate and my roommate at the UoN," Wetang'ula said.

"That will not in any way prejudice my ability to chair this committee to vet my classmate, roommate and friend. I have not said this of any other nominee because this is the only nominee I have that relationship with."

He appeared before the Committee on Appointments on Sunday for vetting.

Muturi was the 4th Cabinet nominee to be vetted.

If picked, the former AG will replace Moses Kuria.
