Defence CS Soipan Tuya has said she will provide servant leadership to the people of Kenya.

In a statement after taking oath of office on Thursday, Tuya said she will always respect and uphold the constitution  as she serves the country.

Tuya thanked God and President William Ruto for the opportunity to serve the country as CS.

She reaffirmed her commitment to perform the functions of her office to the best of her ability.

"Dear God, I'm forever grateful for unending grace and favour… Thank you President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto, for the privilege to serve this great country as Cabinet Secretary, Defence.

"To the People of Kenya, I promise servant leadership; I will obey, respect and uphold the Constitution of Kenya and all other laws of this country; I undertake to hold my office of Cabinet Secretary with honour and dignity," Tuya said.

Tuya was among 19 CS who were approved by the National Assembly on Wednesday and sworn into office on Thursday.

She is also among among CSs who returned to Cabinet from Ruto's first batch that was dismissed in July.

In the previous Cabinet, Tuya served as CS for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry whose new holder is former Defence CS Aden Duale.

During the swearing-in ceremony at State House, Nairobi, Ruto urged his newly reconstituted Cabinet to make service to the people of Kenya their first and only priority.

He encouraged them to also focus on delivering and implementing programmes that will move the country forward.

"I urge you, therefore, to go forth and from this day, focus on delivery, and dedicate your time and effort to the implementation of the various strategies, programmes and projects that the nation’s transformation demands.

"I encourage you to make the people of Kenya your first and only priority and to never let your own interests come in the way of your duties," the President said.

Ruto assured the new CSs of his full support in discharging their mandate to Kenyans.

He said he will be leading by example as a good steward of public resources and accountability.
