Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on Kenyans to give President William Ruto a chance to deliver on his plan for the country.

Speaking in Sagana on Saturday, Gachagua said their administration had experienced some challenges but that has been fixed.

He noted that after a section of Kenyans complained and made 'noises', the President dismissed his entire Cabinet and has now reconstituted it.

The Deputy President said in the reconstitution of Cabinet he brought on board people from the Opposition so that if the need for a conversation arises, the conversation will be held from within government.

Tumekuwa na matatizo kidogo naomba watu wangu huyu Rais tumpatie nafasi. Juzi watu wamepiga kelele ameweka baraza la mawaziri wapya. Hata hawa akina (Hassan) Joho walikuwa ODM wakuje tuwaoneshe kazi. Rais amesema hakuna kuongea huko nje kuja tuongee tukiwa ndani,” Gachagua said.

This loosely translates, “We have had some challenges; I ask you my people to give the President a chance to work. The other day people made noise. He has appointed a new cabinet. Even the likes of Joho were in ODM, they have come we show them work. The president has said that there is no talking from outside, let's talk while we are within government.”

The DP spoke during a stop in Sagana where he had accompanied President William Ruto for a development tour of Kirinyaga County.

Gachagua during his address also affirmed that the Mt Kenya region is firmly behind the President and asked political leaders to stop making remarks geared towards dividing the people.

“I have seen some people trying to start a debate that Mt Kenya people can’t leave the government. Is there need for such a debate? Isn’t this our government? Didn’t we wake up early to vote for it?” he posed.

He also urged political leaders to focus on working for the people who voted for them.

“Don’t bring politics of confusion. As a region, we are fully behind Ruto and as a Deputy President, I work well with him. Leaders should focus on the work they were elected to do. Let the President and his deputy play the lead as they should,” Gachagua said.
