On Thursday last week, President William Ruto presided over the swearing-in of his 19 Cabinet Secretaries.

The event, held at State House Nairobi, followed Parliament's approval of the nominees.

Each of CSs subscribed to a solemn, oath and affirmation of the state office.

Ruto urged his newly reconstituted Cabinet to make service to the people of Kenya their first and only priority.

He encouraged them to also focus on delivering and implementing of programmes that will move the country forward.

"I urge you, therefore, to go forth and from this day, focus on delivery, and dedicate your time and effort to the implementation of the various strategies, programmes, and projects that the nation’s transformation demands," the President said.

"I encourage you to make the people of Kenya your first and only priority and to never let your interests come in the way of your duties."

Ruto assured the new CSs of his full support in discharging their mandate to Kenyans.

He said that he would be leading by example as a good steward of public resources and accountability.

Ruto said the people of Kenya have made their expectations known in bold terms.

He added that they have also made their intolerance for failure, inefficiency, corruption, and ineptitude equally clear.

"As champions of the nation’s development agenda, you will be team players, servant leaders, faithful trustees, effective stewards of the people’s interests, and dependable custodians of their resources."
