Former IEBC Commissioner Irene Masit has lost his father Mzee Chirchir Masit.

Mzee Masit will be laid to rest on Tuesday at Chepkorio in Uasin Gishu county.

Masit was one of the four IEBC commissioners who rejected the results of the 2022 presidential elections.

While the other three colleagues resigned over their stance that the results were "opaque", she refused to do so.

Masit was, however, later removed from office following recommendations by a tribunal formed to investigate her.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Kanu boss Gideon Moi have confirmed that they will attend the burial of Mzee Masit.

Several other political leaders are also expected to attend the burial ceremony.

Elgeyo Marakwet politician Micah Kigen, a close Raila ally, confirmed that the ODM leader will be present.

“Mzee Masit was a highly respected person and we will give him a befitting send-off in the presence of our leaders including Odinga,” Kigen said.
