Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has acknowledged that the youth can turn the world's economic prospects around if given the chance.

In a statement on Monday, to mark International Youth Day, Mudavadi recognised that young people can drive active engagement with the issues that shape their lives, for a better future.

He went on to state that the Kenyan youth have consistently shown that they possess the potential to build a prosperous nation, demonstrating a deep commitment to the well-being of the country.

Mudavadi further noted that the United Nations data reveals that 'half of the people on the planet are 30 or younger', saying with these numbers, the youth can be a force for change.

"With their numbers, energy, and potential, if our youth are equipped with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive, they can play a transformative role in shaping the global economic landscape," the statement by his deputy director of communications, Anders Ihachi said.

The year's theme, "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,", which the Prime CS said aligns perfectly with President William Ruto's vision.

This is of establishing digital hubs across the nation, ensuring that digital access becomes a powerful avenue for job creation and inclusive growth.

Kenyan youth, like their peers worldwide, Mudavadi said, are at the forefront of digital adoption and innovation.

"Just last week, thanks to President Ruto's efforts, Meta (the parent company of Facebook) announced new features that enable Kenyan content creators to earn revenue from short-form videos through advertising," he said.

Mudavadi said with their energy, enthusiasm and determination, all the young people need are opportunities to flourish.

"As the Kenya Kwanza government, this remains our unwavering commitment," he said.

On Thursday, Meta announced two monetisation features for eligible content creators in Kenya.

It said the two, In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels would enable creators to earn money for crafting original videos and cultivating community.

Meta’s global partnerships lead in Africa, the Middle East and Turkey Moon Baz said the rollout will empower eligible creators in Kenya to earn money.

"Every day, we’re inspired by the incredible African creators who use Facebook to tell their stories, connect with others and bring people together," Baz said.

"This expansion will empower eligible creators in the vibrant creative industry in Kenya to earn money, whilst setting the bar high for creativity across the world and making Meta’s family of apps the one-stop-shop for all creators."

Eligible creators in Kenya will be able to earn money for their video and reel content, with support in over 30 languages globally including Kiswahili.

To use either product, creators must pass and remain compliant with Facebook’s Partner Monetisation Policies and Content Monetisation Policies, and they must be at least 18 years old.

Additionally, for in-stream ads creators must meet certain eligibility requirements, such as having a minimum of 5,000 followers.
