The Gusii region is warming up to President William Ruto's three-day tour, which begins on Monday, August 12.

Leaders from the region have been working to ensure the President's tour of the region is a success.

Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda on Sunday met different groups of women in his constituency, as plans continue ahead of Ruto's tour.

Jhanda hailed Ruto for considering the region with a slot in his newly reconstituted Cabinet.

He thanked him for appointing Julius Migos Ogamba as Education CS, after dismissing his entire Cabinet on July 11, 2024.

The Nyaribari Chache MP insisted that Ruto's tour to the region is a significant one as the country is in the mood for reconciliation.

He called on all leaders in the region to rally behind the President to help achieve his Agenda for the people of Kenya.

During the tour, Ruto is expected to among others launch a Sh3.4 billion Ulta-Modern Cancer Centre.

The project has been lying in limbo for years awaiting the completion of paperwork between the government and the lender.

He will also take part in launching several Last Mile Connectivity initiatives in the counties of Kisii and Nyamira.

This is the first time the President is going to the Nyanza region since crafting his broad-based government that retained the influential Education docket in the region.

Ruto last Thursday hosted Kisii MPs and Governor Simba Arati at the State House.

The President is using the regional tours to pacify the ground following weeks of spirited countrywide anti-government protests.

Since naming his broad-based government, the President has been to at least 10 counties.

They include Tharaka Nithi,  Mombasa, Kwale, Tana River, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Baringo, Embu, Murang'a and Kirinyaga.
