We must learn to live with each other, Gachagua says on broad-based regime

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on leaders to embrace each other because they may need to work together in future.

The DP said that in reference to the broad-based government formed by President William Ruto.

He said that regardless of political party affiliation, Kenyans must learn to embrace each other.

"When I look and find Hassan Joho, Wandayi, and Mbadi in the same Cabinet with me, I appreciate that Kenya is great and we must all learn to live with each other," DP Gachagua

This is after the President appointed three members of the ODM party to his cabinet.

Gachagua was addressing Cabinet and Principal Secretaries at the State House Nairobi on Monday.

He called on the leaders to embrace hard work and work ethics to develop the country.

"I want to encourage everyone to love one another and appreciate each other," he said.

Ruto appointed ODM's two deputy party leaders Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, national chairman John Mbadi and National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi to his Cabinet.

Joho was appointed the CS for the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs; Mbadi was appointed the National Treasury; Oparanya Cooperatives and MSME Development CS while Wandayi was appointed the Energy and Petroleum CS.

The President has called on leaders to support the broad-based government saying it will unite the country.

During the Monday morning meeting, Ruto directed the secretaries to avoid corruption, be efficient and prioritise programs that will create jobs for the young people.

He urged them to live by the oath of office they took.

He noted that they have formed a broad-based government to unite the country and rally all Kenyans behind the country's transformation journey.

"I call on those selected to serve in the Cabinet to focus on the implementation of programmes and policies that will transform the lives of Kenyans and move the country forward," he said.

"Let us not waste this golden opportunity."
