Kisii Governor Simba Arati now says that the Opposition party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is ready to work with President William Ruto.

Speaking in Kisii on Tuesday, Arati who had accompanied Ruto to the ground breaking of the Kisii Cancer Centre construction urged Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to stick with the President.

He insisted that should the Mt Kenya people give Ruto problems, then ODM will work with him.

"Mheshimiwa Naibu wa Rais, Kaa pamoja na Rais. Lakini mkikoroga yeye ule upande mwingine sisi kama ODM tuko tayari kutembea na yeye," Arati said.

This loosely translates to, "Mr Deputy President, Stay with the President. But if you give him problems on the other side, we as ODM are ready to walk with him."

During his address, the Kisii Governor and ODM deputy party leader urged leaders to put aside any differences they have and work for the people.

He also asked that they all support President Ruto to deliver on his promises for the time that remains to the end of his first term.

"I want to plead with leaders who are here, let's put our differences aside and work with the President for remain time to make sure development comes to the people."

His remarks come as an assurance that the Opposition party is ready to support Ruto.

After firing his entire Cabinet, Ruto in reconstitution picked at least five leaders from the Opposition party to form part of the Cabinet.

They include former ODM deputy party leaders Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, former chairman John Mbadi, former National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi and Beatrice Askul, an official of the party.

Four have been approved to serve in their various Cabinet portfolios including Mining, Cooperatives, National Treasury and Energy respectively.

Askul has been vetted by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments and awaits confirmation.
