Pope Francis has appointed Right Reverend Wallace Ng'ang'a as Bishop of Military Ordinariate and  Reverend Father Peter Kimani the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Embu.

Both appointments are effective immediately.

Archbishop Bert van Megen, the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, conveyed the message of the appointments to the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) through an official communication.

The news of the appointments was officially published in L’Osservatore Romano in Rome on August  15, 2024.

Until his appointment, Bishop Ng’ang’a was the Auxilliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi following his Apostolic Ordination and Installation on April 6, 2024.

He was appointed Bishop on February 14, 2024.

Bishop Ng'angá, the auxiliary bishop of Nairobi, has been recognized for his dedication and pastoral care within the Church.

His new role as Military Ordinary will involve providing spiritual guidance and support to Catholic members of the military and their families.

This appointment underscores the Vatican's continued commitment to addressing the spiritual needs of those who serve in the armed forces.

Fr. Peter Kimani, previously the chaplain of the Kenya Prisons in the Archdiocese of Nairobi, will succeed Bishop Paul Kariuki as the Bishop of Embu.

Fr. Kiman is known for his active involvement in social justice and community development.

His leadership is anticipated to further strengthen the Church's mission in this vibrant diocese.
