Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot has denied widespread reports claiming he has resigned from office.
Barorot on Thursday skipped President William Ruto’s event for conferring City status to Eldoret sparking speculation over his whereabouts.
The DG has termed the reports on his resignation as rumours but did not explain why he was absent from the key event in the city.
Barorot did not also respond to further questions on why he had been missing from most county events this year attended by his boss Governor Dr Jonathan Bii.
Barorot did not pick up calls but responded to one out of several SMS and WhatsApp messages from the Star concerning his whereabouts.
“Rumours,” replied the DG on the resignation claims.
There has been speculation over his working relationship with Governor Bii but two weeks ago during a prayer meeting at the county headquarters, Governor Bii told the gathering that Barorot was on leave.
“Sorry I forgot to tell you that our Deputy Governor engineer Barorot is not with us here because he is on leave but we are together in all this,” said Bii.
Engineer Barorot has missed almost all preparations for the elevation of Eldoret City status except one where he praised the role of the media in branding and marketing the new city.
Barorot is known to be a very reserved person who embraces a simple lifestyle and most of the time drives himself in the town.
When they took over, Bii and Barorot worked closely attending functions together.
