Death toll in Eldoret-Nakuru road accident rises to 13

The accident occured near Salgaa area around 5 am and it involved multiple vehicles.

The death toll in the Nakuru-Eldoret accident that occurred in the Migaa area near Salgaa on Tuesday morning has risen to 13.

This is after a PSV bus was involved in a multiple-vehicle accident on around 5am.

Of the 13  dead, five are women, 7 men and one is an infant.

The death rose after more people were retrieved from the wreckage of the vehicles involved in the accident.

The number of those injured is 55 and are admitted to various hospitals in the area.

The bus, which was headed for Nakuru direction from Kericho, is said to have lost its brakes as the driver negotiated the steep stretch.

The bus rammed into the barriers on the stretch and other vehicles ahead of it before it landed in a ditch.

Rift Valley Regional police commander Jasper Ombati confirmed the accident.

The scene of the accident is common with such deadly accidents.

This is the latest incident to be reported in the area.
