You're equal to the task! Karua tells AG Dorcas Oduor

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has congratulated the newly appointed Attorney General Dorcas Oduor.

On Tuesday, President William Ruto presided over the swearing-in of Oduor at State House, Nairobi.

In a statement on X, Karua exuded confidence in Oduor saying she is equal to the task.

"Congrats Dorcas Oduor on being sworn in as the first female Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya, go on and shine you are equal to the task," she said.

Oduor will be the first woman Attorney General in Kenya taking over from Justin Muturi who was reappointed to the Ministry of Public Service in Ruto's new Cabinet.

Oduor was confirmed last week by the National Assembly after vetting by the Committee on Appointments.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Ruto said Oduor deserves the position and she will deliver.

The President said her getting the job was not just about being a woman, but because of her competence.

A human rights lobby has also come out to hail Oduor saying her appointment is a historic one.

Utu-Wetu, a collective of human rights experts welcomed Oduor's appointment as the AG.

"Her historic swearing-in as the first female Attorney General marks a pivotal moment in our nation's history. As an organisation dedicated to ending sexual violence, we look forward to working with Attorney General Oduor to ensure that victims of sexual violence receive the reparations they deserve," Utu Wetu executive director Yvonne Oyieke said.

"We look forward to collaborating with Attorney General Dorcas Oduor in her efforts to ensure that victims of sexual violence receive the reparations they need and deserve."

Odour pledged to serve with honour and dignity and to provide valuable counsel to the President.
