Detectives are hunting for a man who is suspected to have killed his wife in Ogwedhi market, Migori County.

The decomposing body of Jackline Pilli, 31 was found in her bed days after she had gone missing.

She had not reported to work since Monday and it was not until Wednesday night that her body was discovered.

Police suspect she was killed on Sunday night and the body was left at the scene.

A sister of the deceased informed police that her brother-in-law called her claiming the deceased was sick and in critical condition.

When she called him to confirm where the sister was, she realized the mobile phone was off.

She went to Ogwedhi market where her sister operated a hotel and she was informed by employees there her sister was last seen at the facility on Monday, August 19 morning.

Jackline is said to have left the place saying she was going home to solve a family dispute with her husband.

They were the only people in the house then.

The sister and other employees at the joint went to the house and found it locked from outside prompting them to seek police help to access it.

The body of the woman was found lying on the floor next to her bed.

According to the police, the head was completely wrapped with a bed sheet and tied tightly on the neck with blood oozing from the nose.

The body was decomposing at that time. It was removed and taken to the Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Police said they are looking for a known suspect in connection with the murder to establish the motive and take necessary action.

And multi-agency teams are investigating an incident in which a 54-year-old man was shot and killed in Mwingi Game Reserve, Kitui County.
