Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has urged serving officers to start preparing for retirement on their first day of recruitment.
Masengeli made the remarks as he met retired police officers during their 7th National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPOK) General Meeting at the NPC Embakasi A Campus on Wednesday.
Former Commissioner of Police, Shadrack Kiruki who retired nearly 30 years ago, was the Chief Guest during the meeting.
Kuruki served as Commissioner of Police between 1993 and 1996.
Masengeli reassured that the National Police Service doors remain open to support NARPOK, sentiments that were shared by Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police, Eliud Lagat, and DCI Director Mohammed Amin.
NARPOK chairman Japheth Mwania appreciated NPS top leadership led by Ag IG Masengeli for hosting the NARPOK 7th General Meeting.
In his remarks, the chief guest ex-Police Commissioner Kiruki stated that the Board of Trustees is working to streamline the welfare of retired police officers.
Other present during the event were former Police Spokesman Jeremiah Matagaro, former NPSC Commissioner Mary Owuor, former Commandant GSU, Samson Cherambos, former Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police II, Lawrence Mwadime and former Director NPS Headquarters, James Mwaniki.
Others were former INTERPOL Officer Mary Kaol, Otieno Osur, Musa Yego, Pauline Adhiambo, Stanley Mutungi, Dola Indidis, William Meto, former Regional Police Commander Western, Peris Muthoni, chairman Wajir Chapter Osman Fankey, and Head of International Police Association Kenya Chapter, Shuaib Adam.
NARPOK Board of Trustees included all retired Inspectors General, retired Commissioners of Police, Retired Directors DCI, Retired Commandants GSU, and retired Directors General NIS.
Commandant NPC Embakasi A Campus, Davis Lomwatu, SAIG and NPS spokesperson Dr Resila Onyango, AIG were also present.
