Education CS Julius Ogamba has appointed Julius Aritho as the Acting managing director of the Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB).

In a Memo seen by the Star, Aritho's appointment is effective September 1, 2024.

He will serve in an acting capacity for six months when a substantive officeholder will have been appointed.

"Aritho will lead the operations of the Bureau until a substantive Managing Director is appointed," the memo reads.

He will replace Victor Lomaria, whose term of service ends on August 31, 2024.

Aritho is an Internal Audit Manager.

KLB Board Chairperson Rispah Wepukhulu thanked Lomaria for his dedication and commitment as he led the organisation.

"I take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Managing Director, for his selfless acts of service that have seen the Bureau grow its bottom line.

"I appreciate the dedication and commitment with which Mr. Lomaria has held, to enrich staff welfare and establish KLB as the leading publishing and printing powerhouse," she said.

Wepukhulu urged members of staff to accord the new MD cooperation in the discharge of his duties for the success of the Bureau.

"Staff are required to dedicate their energies towards fostering a team spirit aimed at ensuring a smooth transition until the appointment of a substantive Managing Director," Wepukhulu said.

"On behalf of the Board of Management, we wish Mr. Aritho all the best in his new assignment and God’s favour to the outgoing Managing Director, Mr Lomaria in his future endeavours."

The changes come a few weeks after Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang reversed the appointment of Kenneth Jumba as acting managing director by the Board.
