Kenya Power confirms parts of country hit by blackout

Parts of the country have reported being hit by blackout Friday night.

Comments on X indicated that the blackout affected various regions in the country.

“If you don't have power in your location kindly reply under this tweet your location,” a user said in a post.

“Kitengela total blackout,” one user said.

Kenyans in Voi, Murang’a, Embu, Lang’ata in Nairobi, Ongata Rongai, Kitale, Kericho, Malindi among other areas also said they had no power.

Kenya Power confirmed the reports in a statement.

"We have lost power supply to various parts of the country except North Rift region and sections of Western region," the company said.

"We regret any inconvenience caused and urge for patience from our customers as we work towards restoring normalcy at the earliest opportunity. We will issue an update on the progress of the power restoration exercise as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, Kenya Power had on its X handle indicated that parts of Uasin Gishu county would be affected by scheduled power interruption between 10am and 5pm on saturday, August 31.

The utility firm said areas to be affected are around Maili Nne affecting Rabbi Academy, Safaricom Booster, Roadblock, Bayete shopping Centre and adjacent customers.
