Police kill armed robber in Dagoretti as Kasarani man stabs self to death

A lifeless body was found by the side of the road near Hussein Bridge in lucky summer, Mathare.

Police in Dagoretti division shot dead a suspected robber during an operation on Wednesday evening.

The officers were on patrol when they received reports from members of the public that armed robbers were stealing from members of the public.

The officers responded to the situation and upon arrival at the scene of the crime, police say one of them, armed with a gun,  advanced towards them prompting a shootout.

"The officers acted swiftly and fatally injured one as the other managed to escape. The officers recovered a homemade gun capable of firing from the slain suspect," a report filed at Muthangari police station said.

The body of the suspect said to be a 28-year-old man, was taken to the City mortuary for preservation.

Elsewhere, police in Kasarani are probing a case of a man who allegedly stabbed himself to death during a drinking session with his wife and a friend at his house.

The wife of the victim told police that they were drinking takeaway alcohol at the house after having dinner when the man rushed to the kitchen and came out armed with a knife.

She told the police that he stabbed himself in the thigh. The incident happened Thursday.

"They rushed him to St. Francis hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival," a police report made at Karani police station stated.

"The scene was visited and a kitchen knife with blood stains recovered at the scene and kept as an exhibit."

Police are yet to establish the motive of the tragic incident.

The body was moved to City Mortuary pending autopsy.

In Lucky Summer, Starehe Police Division, police are probing a possible murder case of a 25-year-old man who was found dead on the roadside.

Police say the victim's lifeless body was found at the side of the road at Hussein Bridge by a member of the public.

Upon visiting the scene, the victim was found dead with blood oozing from the left side of the head.

The rest of the body, police say, remained intact.

His body was taken to the City Morgue pending further processes.
