Businessman Mwale hosts investors at MMTC, inks deals

United States-based Kenyan businessman Julius Mwale led a group of investors in a two-day trade and investment forum at Mwale Medical and Technology City(MMTC).

The company, in a statement, said 12 business deals worth USD2.8 billion (Ksh360 billion) were signed at the forum.

Hundreds of global and local investors and philanthropists converged at MMTC for a comprehensive trade and investment symposium, where they sampled various investment opportunities at MMTC.

The green city is based in Butere, Kakamega County.

“The finalized deals were in the expansion of Hamptons Hospital into 12 countries in Africa at a cost of US $ 1.3 billion (Sh167 billion), and investment into solar power generation for the 12 new MMTC smart cities across Africa at a cost  of $ 865 million (Sh11 billion),” MMTC said in statement.

Other deals included agritech where farming for wheat, avocado, rice and fish amounted to $233 million (Sh30 billion) in deals for MMTC projects in Kenya, Cameroon and Ghana.

MMTC’S  December 14, 2024 Marathon inked US $ 6 million (Sh772 million) in sponsorship packages,  which will go towards paying for healthcare premiums for low-income families and sponsoring programs for Kenyans with disabilities.

The trade tour and investment symposium at MMTC, which MMTC founder Julius Mwale led, was part of the 7-day FESTAC Africa festival which is taking place in Kisumu County and other major hubs like MMTC in the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) from August 24 to 31st, 2024.

“The global investors visiting MMTC are from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Nigeria, India, China, Vietnam,  UK and France. The deal-making at MMTC is expected to continue into next week as investors deluge the city with tours.

“MMTC has emerged as a global hub for healthcare and green energy and is part of our vision to build 18 cities in 12 countries by 2050,” MMTC stated.
