This was after a scuffle ensued between a Kenya Defence Forces soldier and police officers, leaving the former nursing a bullet wound.

Police said the Wednesday morning incident in Kware, Embakasi happened when they arrested three soldiers for questioning over suspicion of being criminals.

The soldiers denied the claims, leading to a scuffle and an arrest where two of the soldiers were bundled into the police car.

However, police say the third soldier jumped into the car and started wrestling the officers on board.

The two soldiers, who police say had been handcuffed, began shouting, informing the one who had jumped into the vehicle to grab the magazine, prompting a discharge.

Police said the team drove to the station, where it was established that the soldier who wrestled the policewoman had sustained gunshot injuries on the right thigh and was bleeding.

The other officers said they sustained bruises on their bodies in the struggle.

The injured soldier was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital.

When he arrived, he was held captive and the captors demanded a Sh200,000 ransom then recorded a video of him in handcuffs, pleading for help.

Police said the victim was then asked to send the video to his brother to ask him to look for the ransom urgently.

He warned him against involving the police and was held overnight.

The victim's brother rushed to Pangani police station and reported the matter.

The suspected perpetrators denied the charges and were released on a Sh1 million bond and a similar surety.

The case will be mentioned on November 26 and the hearing will be on March 4, 2025.
