Submit marriage certs in 30 days - AG directs religious leaders

The government has directed all registrars of marriage and licensed ministers of faith to submit all marriage certificates for the marriages already conducted within 30 days.

These are to be submitted to the Registrar of Marriages office in Nairobi.

In a communication Tuesday's copy of My Gov, through the office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice, this is to be done in accordance with the Marriage Act.

"Scan and upload marriage certificates and Registrar's certificates or special license as the case may be for all marriages to be conducted from September 1, 2024," the statement read.

The statement added that the same is to be submitted to [email protected].

The officials are to deliver the original marriage certificates to the Registrar of Marriages, Nairobi, within 14 days of the celebration of the marriage.

The directive applies to Christian marriages, civil marriages, Customary marriages, Hindu marriages and Islamic marriages.
