Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang'wa has denied claims by National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah that President William Ruto consulted the county's MPs before he appointed the new Agriculture Cabinet Secretary.

In his remarks, Ichung'wah claims President Ruto asked Kiambu MPs to find him someone to employ at the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to Thang'wa, it is misleading for Ichung'wah to say that legislators from the county were involved.

He insisted that he was not consulted and did not even get an invitation to be part of any such process.

The Kiambu senator added that should he have been part of the process, he would not have proposed the current CS for Agriculture because he does not know him.

"As an MP representing Kiambu County as their Senator, I want to clarify that I was not consulted in the selection of the new Cabinet Secretary from our county, nor was I invited to participate in that process.

"It is misleading for the Kikuyu MP to suggest that all Kiambu MPs were involved. If I had been consulted, I would not have proposed the current CS for Agriculture, as I am not familiar with him," Thang'wa said.

He added that just like the Opposition party did suggesting well-known individuals, he would have recommended the same from Kiambu county, should he have been part of the process.

He went on and listed the names of some of the people he would have recommended from the county.

"While ODM put forward notable names such as Joho, Oparanya, Bandi, and Wandayi, I could have recommended prominent figures from Kiambu, including Moses Kuria, Kabogo, Waititu, Nyoro, Maara, Waikenda, Jungle, Wakanyi etc.

"In summary, I did not attend the meeting organized by Ichung'wah regarding the selection process for Kiambu."

In the undated video seen by the Star, Ichung'wah was seen addressing a crowd speaking in the Kikuyu dialect.

He then says that it was the MPs who went and looked for Andrew Karanja and submitted the name to the President.

"When President Ruto was forming a new cabinet, he called us MPs from Kiambu, he said, go find someone for me and we will give him the job at the Ministry of Agriculture, all of us MPs from Kiambu went to look for Dr. Karanja and we gave him to Ruto and he made him a minister," Ichung'wah said.
