It is pain, anxiety and hopelessness for two Kitengela families whose loved ones were abducted by unknown people last month.

Boby Njagi, Aslam Longton and Jamil Longton were taken on August 19.

The families said they have left the matters to God.

Bobby Njagi's parents say he was picked from Mlolongo stage after boarding a matatu.

The father of two, aged 47, was actively involved in politics and always had sharp opinions.

At some point, Njagi was an official in ODM.

He unsuccessfully vied for Kajiado East parliamentary seat in 2017 and 2022.

“During the Gen Z protests, I would ask him what was going on and why the area was more volatile than others. But he would dismiss me, saying I can’t understand,”Njagi's mother said during a media interview at their home in Kitengela.

“I now leave everything to God. If hope the people holding him are human beings with conscience and feelings."

His father expressed disappointment in President William Ruto after he said he is not aware of abductions by police.

“My hopes sunk. I voted for Ruto in the last election but I don’t know how I would vote if you asked me today,” he said.

Aslam and Jamal's family claimed the police were behind the abductions, saying witnesses saw them take the two brothers.

A boda boda rider who witnessed the action said the abductors were using a white Subaru car.

“The driver stepped out of the car and had handcuffs on his waist. He checked them out, before getting back to the car.”

Police sources say the three were taken as part of investigations to crack the whip on organisers of protests in Kitengela.

The protests made the area volatile.

Defenders Coalition is one of the organisations piling pressure on police to produce the three men in court.

“The coalition is in court today [Thursday] following up on the case HCCHRPET/E436/2024 - the disappearance of Human Rights Defenders Bob Njagi, Longton Jamil and his brother Aslay Jamil,” the lobby posted on social media.

The court had ordered the acting police IG Geoffrey Masengeli to appear before it on September 3 but he was no show.
