Detectives in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, are probing a burglary incident at a petrol station along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway by a group of approximately six men who stole gas cylinders.

The incident occurred on Sunday night when the culprits broke into the gas cages and made off with 25 full 13kg gas cylinders and 17 smaller 6kg cylinders.

According to police, the suspects initially asked the station's security guards for water to cool their vehicle's engine.

Police say they subdued the security guards, forced them inside the generator room and tied them up using sisal ropes on the legs and arms.

No recovery or arrests have been made.

The incident is still under investigation.
