Rebecca Cheptegei's former boyfriend has died due to respiratory complications.
His death comes just five days after death of the athlete. Cheptegei sustained more than 80 per cent burns.
Ndiema was accused of dousing Cheptegei in petrol and setting her alight in Trans Nzoia, landing her in intensive care unit before she was pronounced dead five days ago has died of respiratory complications.
He gave up his fight at the ICU at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he had been admitted.
CEO of the hospital Dr Philip Kirwa said in a statement that the respiratory complications were as a result of the severe airway burns he sustained.
Kirwa added that Ndiema had more than 41 percent burns on his body.
“In ICU he developed respiratory failure as a result of the severe burns and sepsis led to his eventual death on Monday evening despite life saving measures.”
Kirwa said Ndiema's relatives have been informed of his death. The 32-year-old hailed from Endebes in Trans Nzoia county.
Meanwhile, Cheptegei will be buried on Saturday in Uganda.
The two had reportedly been quarrelling over land which Cheptegei bought in Trans Nzoia leading to the attack a week ago.
