Detectives are investigating a fire incident that broke out at a sugarcane plantation in Manjoreni, Kwale County.

A security supervisor said that the fire started at the centre of the company’s plantation.

Officers on patrol in the Kanana area managed to contain the fire with the help of the workers.

Police said approximately 3 hectares of mature cane of unknown value was destroyed.

The cause of the fire has not been established, police said

Officers from Shimoni police station photographed the scene and necessary steps were taken.

Investigation into the case is still ongoing.

Elsewhere, a fire broke out in the house of a woman in Mwiki, Nairobi.

Police say the Nairobi Fire Brigade team and residents managed to put off the fire and no casualty was reported.

According to police, properties of unknown value were destroyed.

Officers from Mwiki Police Station processed the scene and necessary steps were taken.

The case is under investigation.

In Mutarukire, Laikipia, Duncan Wachira Kagua is counting losses after a fire erupted at his three-bedroom house.

Properties of unknown value were destroyed, and no injury was reported, police said.

Police officers and the Laikipai County Fire Brigade responded and managed to put off the fire.
