Atheists in Kenya Society has called on the government to consider implementation of a one-child policy.
The society in a statement on Wednesday argued the move will address the pressing issues of high unemployment rates and poverty levels among the youth in Kenya.
President of the Atheist Harrison Mumia, emphasised that these measures would ensure that the policy’s benefits are widely felt.
“If implemented in over a 40-year period, this could lead to a significant reduction in poverty levels and increase job opportunities for future generations,” Mumia said.
According to the society, the one-child policy would help alleviate the extreme poverty affecting Kenyans and ease the strain on essential resources such as food, water, and energy.

The society believes implementing this policy could bring long-term benefits similar to those experienced in China.
The impact of such a policy on the country's socio-economic landscape is a topic of increasing relevance and debate among various stakeholders in Kenya.
