Former Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia football player Collins Okoth Ougo alias Gatusso will take a plea in a murder charge at the High Court in Nairobi.

Gattuso was arraigned before Justice Alexander Muteti last week alongside his co-accused, Sylvia Aoko. Still, they did not take a plea as the report on their mental assessment had not been filed in court.

The prosecution then confirmed that the suspects had undergone medical assessment and that the reports were ready.

The court directed that the reports be filed in court before the duo pleads to murder charges today.

Okoth, a renowned ex-Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfield maestro and his co-accused are alleged to have murdered a three-year-old girl in Lucky Summer Estate in Nairobi in April.

He has since been in police custody as detectives conclude their investigations into the murder

Given most judges are still on vacation, the suspects will plead to the charges before Justice Esther Maina who is the duty judge this week.

The file can then be handed to another court for trial and other directions.

Elsewhere at the Supreme Court, the two-day marathon hearing of the government's appeal challenging the nullification of the Finance Act 2023 continues today.

The government through the CS for Treasury and the Attorney General on Tuesday put up a spirited fight to have the Court of Appeal decision that invalidated the act quashed arguing it had caused a budgetary shortfall and will strain revenue sources.
