A fire has broken out at the Elohim building in Nanyuki, Laikipia county.

The Kenya Road Cross says efforts to extinguish the blaze are ongoing.

The fire is the latest to be reported in a series of fire incidents that have plagued the country in recent days, mostly in schools.

The latest of the school fires occured at Wamy Secondary School in Kambi Garba, Isiolo, on Wednesday, September 11.

Red Cross said it responded to the incident and thanks to help from the County Fire Brigade, the fire was conatined and there were no casualties.

Earlier on Friday, Red Cross said it was carrying out training to equip Regional Disaster Response Teams to ensure they are always ready to respond when disaster strikes.

"This week in Machakos and Kwale, staff and volunteers from across the country are enhancing their skills in emergency shelter management, international humanitarian law, supply chain, restoring family links and public health in emergencies to strengthen disaster response in their communities.
