Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli on Friday officiated the closing ceremony of Sub-County Police Commanders (SCPC) Course at the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA) in Ngong.
The development comes even as the High Court handed him a six-month jail term for contempt of court and ordered that he submits himself to commissioner general of prisons.
"In event he doesn't submit himself, CS Interior must take all steps to ensure he is committed to prison to serve sentence," Justice Lawrence Mugambi ordered.
The closing ceremony comes at the end of five weeks' leadership management course of 190 SCPCs, the second of its kind following the completion of the first cohort that had 170 SCPCs.
In his remarks, the acting IG advised the officers drawn from the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Administration Police Service (APS) and Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to work as a team in order to enhance service delivery to Kenyans.
Deputy IG of the KPS, Eliud Lagat, echoed his sentiments and called on the commanders to positively influence those under their command for optimal service delivery to the public.
During the event, the subcounty commanders presented three policy briefs to Masengeli touching on police station management, crowd control management in the 21st C policing, and police integrity.
The initiative to produce policy papers spearheaded by DIG Lagat is aimed at encouraging senior officers at National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA) to come up with effective and practicable solutions to modern policing challenges.
