Over 65,000 youths apply for Climate WorX mtaani hours after launch

The project was launched in Korogocho on Thursday, by President William Ruto.

Over 65,000 Kenyans have already applied to join the Climate WorX Mtaani initiative, the government has said.

This comes barely 12 hours after it was launched by President William Ruto, on Thursday.

The number is expected to grow further.

The initiative will also spearhead the Nairobi River Regeneration Project in Korogocho.

Climate WorX will provide more than 200,000 jobs for the youth, with 20,000 youth opportunities in Nairobi alone.

The successor programme to Kazi Mtaani will focus on climate change adaptation including the rehabilitation of the 45 kilometres covered by the Nairobi River.

The initiative will start in Nairobi County then progressively spread to other counties across the country.

Some of the projects include the 15 billion national tree growing programme.
