Petrol, diesel prices unchanged, kerosene down by Sh3.43

Petrol and diesel prices have remained unchanged in this month’s price review, energy regulator Epra has said.

In a statement, Director General Daniel Kiptoo, however, said the price of Kerosene had dropped by Sh3.43 per litre.

Super Petrol will therefore continue retailing at Sh188.84, Diesel at Sh171.60 while kerosene will now gor for Sh158.32 in Nairobi effective Saturday midnight.

The drop in kerosene prices is a reprieve to Kenyan households that depend on the fuel for cooking and for lighting their homes.

“The prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation,” Kiptoo said.

In Mombasa, petrol, diesel and kerosene will retail at Sh185.66, Sh168.43 and Sh155.07 respectively.

In Kisumu, the fuel products will go for Sh188.66, Sh171.81 and Sh158.72.

In Nakuru, petrol will continue retailing at Sh157.90, diesel Sh171.04 and kerosene Sh157.91.

Customers in Eldoret will part with Sh188.67 per litre of petrol, Sh71.81 for diesel and Sh158.73 for kerosene.

The maximum retail prices of the petroleum products will be in force from September 15, 2024 to midnight, October 14, 2024.

Kiptoo said the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreased by 1.53 per cent from US$708.47 per cubic metre in July 2024 to US$697.62 per cubic metre in August 2024.

He said the landing cost for diesel decreased by 2.95 per cent from US$693.82 per cubic metre to US$673.36 per cubic metre while Kerosene decreased by 5.30 per cent from US$705.74 per cubic metre to US$668.34 per cubic metre.
