Body of man linked to assault incident retrieved from Machakos river

Police are investigating a drowning incident where the lifeless body of a man was discovered floating on the banks of a river in Kwa Mangeli Area, Machakos County.

According to police officers who retrieved the body, the man was identified as Amos Walale aged 23 years old.

Police say the deceased was at large following the assault of a man police identified as Timothy Tenya on the night of Friday, September 13.

It is suspected that he might have drowned while attempting to evade arrest from members of the public by fleeing towards the river, police said.

Police officers from Athi River Police Station visited the scene and necessary action was taken.

The body was moved to Shalom mortuary pending autopsy. Case pending under investigation.

Elsewhere, two girls are nursing injuries after a confrontation ensued at a women's table banking group meeting in Kabolwo village, Bomet County.

The two are said to have been attacked by one of the members of the group who is accused of pouring hot tea on their bodies.

Drama started when the suspect accused one of the host's daughters of conducting an abortion.

This led to a standoff whose end left the two injured.

The suspect is said to have scooped tea from a sufuria using a jug and poured it on the two girls.

The girls's mother and other members intervened, police said.

Police say the suspect fled the scene and efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are ongoing police said.
