Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has urged leaders from the Mt Kenya region to shun politics and focus on development programmes that benefit their constituents.

Speaking during the Centennial celebrations of Our Lady of Sorrows Baricho Catholic Church, Waiguru asked the leaders to reduce political fights and fulfil their pledges made during campaigns.

She called on the leaders to unite and work together for the benefit of the people.

“I urge our leaders to appreciate and support each other whenever good work is done instead of pulling each other down to discredit and derail development for selfish interests, at the expense of deserving residents," Waiguru said.

The Kirinyaga governor stated that when the time comes, the Mt Kenya region will forge a common path.

She, however, reiterated that as things stand, the region is fully behind President William Ruto.

The governor lauded her county's cordial working relationship with President Ruto’s administration.

She added that Kirinyaga has reaped immense development projects from the national government because of the good working relationship.

She reaffirmed her commitment to changing lives through transformative development Initiatives in Kirinyaga.

The centennial celebration was attended by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alongside other elected leaders including Senators, MPs and Members of County Assembly.
