At least three people were Monday night killed in a fire incident in Lunga Lunga slums, Nairobi.

The fire that broke out at about 8 pm flattened a house where the victims were, police and locals said.

The deceased were burned beyond recognition.

The fire broke out from the affected structures before it spread fast killing the three. The victims were sleeping when the fire broke out.

They were identified by their mother as a 16-year-old form two student at a local school, an eight-year-old girl at Joyland Vision Academy who was in grade two and their sister aged four.

Police said the fire broke out in Lunga Lunga at Paradise slums.

The fire was put out by county fire engines when the bodies were discovered.

Police said they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.

Several emergency service providers responded to the scene, Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said.

The bodies were removed to the City Mortuary.

Meanwhile, a casual worker with a company contracted to install an electric pole in Eldoret died in an electrocution incident.

Police said David Wanyonyi Khisa, 21, was with other colleagues along a power line off Eldoret-Ndalat road when all of a sudden as they were balancing the concrete post, it contacted an electric current from the main line thus electrocuting the deceased.

He fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is preserved at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
