Television news presenter Lulu Hassan has eulogised Sultana's Winnie 'Dida' Bwire as a great friend and one who related well with others.

Speaking on Saturday during Dida's burial in Mumias, Lulu said the late actress chose to be honest and disciplined with her coworkers and friends.

"Winnie alikuwa ni rafiki mzuri, alikuwa msikilivu. Winnie alikuwa ukikosea, anakwambia. Hatawahi kukupaka mafuta kwa mgongo wa chupa. Anakwambia as it is," she said.

This is loosely translated to, " Winnie was a good friend, she was a good listener. Winnie would tell you if you went wrong. She would never lie to you. She would tell you as it is."

Lulu, who presented other members of Jiffy Pictures, the company which produced Maria and Sultana, said their presence showed the kind of a person Dida was.

Lulu also said Dida was so disciplined, that she encouraged her colleagues and crew to emulate her.

As she read a tribute from Jiffy Pictures, Lulu also described Dida as a darling, sister and daughter.

"In whatever role we knew her, she stood out as someone very special. Winnie was a beacon of hard work and discipline. She approached each role with a level of commitment and professionalism that set a high standard for all of us," she said.

"Her dedication to her craft inspired everyone on set and pushed us to strive for excellence. Her legacy will live on through her incredible body of work and the lives she touched. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the remarkable person she was and the enduring impact she had on our lives."

Dida joined the Jiffy Pictures family in the Sultana drama series on Citizen TV in 2021.

Dida passed away on September 5, 2024, while undergoing cancer treatment in Turkey.
