Mother to Sultana's Winnie 'Dida' Bwire has revealed her daughter's conversation with God regarding her condition.

She said Dida, who died of cancer in Turkey, had talked to God about her fate.

Speaking at her daughter's burial in Mumias on Saturday, Dida's mother said they had travelled to Turkey and were waiting for treatment when she revealed what she had told God.

"Mum, I have had a conversation with God," she added, "I have asked God, that if he knows that I am going to die, let me just die now."

"But if He knows that I am going to get well, I am ready to hold on. I am in so much pain I do not want to go on like this. If I am going to go through the pain and die, let me just die now."

The mother, who is a breast cancer survivor, said they had talked on their second day in Turkey.

She said on the third day which was September 5, Dida was not able to talk and she passed away.

The late actress's mother described her daughter as a strong human being, having endured pain from before she was diagnosed during the Covid-19 period.

"I want to remember her as a very strong-willed woman. Whatever she went through I could not have gone through it myself," she said.

"My process was short. The cancer that I had was discovered in the first stage, so the treatment took a short period. Look at Winnie, it was discovered when it was late and her treatment started late."

She said Winnie developed a cyst in her breast at 14 years old but when it was tested, they were told it was benign.

The cyst however kept growing and after some years and another test, the results showed that it was benign.

The mother said Dida started getting worried when periods caused her breasts to be painful.

This advanced to having pain in her breast even after periods, causing Dida to seek medical attention, which confirmed that she had cancer.

Dida's mother urged the government to ensure that there is awareness of cancer, to help people get tests and help where it is needed.
