Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that what is happening to him with the current administration, is worse than what happened to President William Ruto when he was the second-in-command.

According to Gachagua, Ruto was given time to work for at least one term as Deputy President without any form of harassment.

He said that this is unlike him, who has only worked for one year.

The DP insisted that what is currently happening is not right and that he should be allowed to serve Kenyans for the remainder of their term.

“Even if there is a jinx around this position at least President Ruto was allowed to do his job for five years without interruption or harassment. I’ve only done one year and what is happening to me is worse than what happened to Ruto.

“I ask President William Ruto to please allow me to work for the next three years. Let me serve the people of Kenya. What is happening is not right,” Gachagua said on Friday.

The DP, during an interview on Citizen TV, cited frustrations by officials from the President’s office.

He said that together with his officials, they were allegedly removed from the President’s Diary WhatsApp group, and he is not privy to Ruto’s engagements, which is the reason he has been missing some events.

He also said some officials have been making it deliberate to have him come late for events so could look bad.

Gachagua insisted that he never expected such to happen, given all he went through under the previous administration just to support President Ruto.

He added that his family is distressed by the recent political happenings.

“Many people don't understand Rigathi Gachagua. Rigathi Gachagua is a seasoned leader who has seen many ups and downs. I underwent hell in the last administration to support President William Ruto, cases were fabricated against me for standing with President William Ruto, and my wealth was confiscated for standing with William Ruto but I am a very principled man who stood with him to the last man. I never expected this to happen.

“My family is devastated that this can be happening to their father. A man who went out of his way to stand with President William Ruto and made sure he was elected president and took the flak for it,” the DP added.
