ODM party has distanced itself from any impeachment plans targeting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The party chairperson Gladys Wanga that party leadership is unaware of such plans.

"We know nothing about the impeachment as a part. We know nothing," she said

Wanga however reiterated that any Member of Parliament can bring any motion and when such is done, the Parliamentary group will sit and deal with it.

"For now we don't want to anticipate things we don't know about, it's not in our purview," she added.

The party chairperson was speaking to the media in Kisumu.

Wanga further called on the DP to remember his role as a national leader.

"We are living in tough economic times with high unemployment rates, uncertainty in education and and healthcare sector in transition. Kenya expects their leaders, to address pressing issues and not waste time," she said.

"We are taken aback and surprised that the DP spoke on national television about issues like who was removed from which WhatsApp group. This is not the priority of our country. Kenya is for all of us, and everyone must have a chance to participate in national building. The DP must realize that he is the leader of the entire country, not just one region."

Wanga called on the DP to shift focus on the real issues affecting Kenyans such as changes faced by Fishermen in Lake Victoria, the struggling sugarcane industry in Western Kenya and the need to create jobs rather than focusing on a single region.

She stressed the importance of unity stating "This is not the time to look for kingpins or seek kingpin ship. This is the time for national leaders to come together and address the issues affecting Kenyans," she said.

The Homabay Governor urged Gachagua to follow the example of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who she stated is a national leader carrying the entire country.

Kisumu West MP Rosa Buyu echoed Wanga's sentiments saying the DP is going through a 'Damascus moment' and they expected him to denounce the shareholding remarks.

Buyu emphasized that once elected, leaders must rise above their local communities and represent the nation's interests.
