Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked President William Ruto to unite his Kenya Kwanza Alliance party.

Speaking at PEFA Church in Thika, Kiambu County on Saturday, Gachagua said this is for the sake of the country's development.

"Ningetaka kuuliza rais wetu ajaribu tu, aweke nyumba yake pamoja tuweze kufanyia wananchi kazi," he said.

This is loosely translated to, "I would like to ask our President to try and put his house in order so we can work for the citizens."

Noting that it has been two years since they were elected, Gachagua stated that a lot of work has been stalled including the construction of roads, water works and, in the energy and education sector.

Seemingly talking about the impeachment claims, the DP said there is no use trying to hurt others adding that development is much more important.

"If you ask me, all those plans are useless because we were given five years to serve Kenyans," he said.

Likening the government to a homestead, he said if there is a problem at home, the man of the house gathers his wife and children and solves the issues.

"But if we start with the divisions, I want to caution that if the direction that is being taken to destroy our homestead succeeds, it will never be the same again," Gachagua said.

The DP urged the President not to allow destruction into the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party and the reintroduction of politics of betrayal.

Gachagua said Ruto was the greatest beneficiary of the show and that the residents of Mt Kenya distaste betrayal.

"Our people hate betrayal, and they are very unforgiving if you betray them. I ask my brother President Ruto not to be tempted to go that direction," he said.

"That is just my advice. It does not have to be taken."

He stated that when there was an attempt to betray Ruto, the people of Mt Kenya stood beside him.

Gachagua reiterated that the executive should focus on developing the country.

Signs of Gachagua’s compounding woes became clear last week when 48 MPs from the former Central province threw their weight behind Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as their kingpin.

This was barely a day after 21 MPs from Mt Kenya East declared that Kindiki was their link to President Ruto's administration.
