President William Ruto on Sunday held a meeting with at least three leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meetings, Ruto and the three leaders discussed various areas of collaboration with each of the countries they represented.

In the meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stabb, Ruto said the two countries are keen on enriching their bilateral ties.

He said Kenya and Finland will work together to empower their citizens and further advance common global goals.

"Kenya and Finland enjoy strong bilateral ties, strengthened through collaborations on areas of shared interests. We are keen on enhancing our partnership to empower our citizens as well as advance global goals such as peace, security, and climate action," Ruto said.

President Stabb on his part said, "We agree on many things, including the need for UN reform. The choice is simple: multilateral cooperation or multipolar disorder."

In another meeting with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Ruto said they agreed to work towards enhancing trade and investment between the two nations.

This will include investing in education, developing Special Economic Zones, implementing labour agreements and accessing markets for Kenyan products.

"Over the years, Kuwait has established itself as a valuable partner to Kenya in matters of development. Through our cooperation, we have witnessed major infrastructural developments that have enhanced our country’s transformation journey."

President Ruto also met the Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, with whom they discussed the opening of a Kenyan Embassy in Iraq, in a bid to deepen relations.

He said Kenya is also exploring ways of escalating ties with Iraq and promises to be a solid partner in trade, agriculture, and labour mobility.

"Our broader focus is to secure market for our tea, coffee and beef in the Arab nation," Ruto said.

The President held these meetings with some members of his delegation including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi among other Cabinet secretaries.

Ruto is expected to hold further engagements with other leaders in New York.
